​Indonesia is one of the largest coconut producing countries in the world. The ideal climate and abundant water availability support the development of coconuts in various regions in Indonesia. In 2023, Indonesia will produce around 17.97 million metric tons of coconuts. 

West Kalimantan is one of the largest palm oil producing provinces in Indonesia, after Riau. Coconut is one of the leading plantation commodities in West Kalimantan. 

This condition clearly affects the abundant coconut waste. Coconut waste can be processed into various products, such as cocopeat, cocofiber, and crafts. 

Products from coconut fiber waste 

Cocopeat
Organic planting media that has high water absorption and storage capacity. Cocopeat can be exported to China, Japan, and South Korea. 

Cocofiber
Raw material for car seats, pillow fillings, livestock mats, pot crafts, brooms, and doormats. Cocofiber can also be used as a planting medium. 

Cocomesh
An environmentally friendly product that resembles a net and can help reclaim mines, beaches, or forests. 

 Cocosheet
A product that resembles a carpet and can be used to make wallets, shoes, and mattresses.

Meanwhile, products from coconut shell waste include rice ladles, toys or key chains, bowls, cups, ashtrays, buttons, table lamps, hand washing places, flower vases, rice spoons.
